Regarding Gamergate and it’s ban from Dashcon 15′
We’ve been viewing posts regarding our rules and I believe it is time we put some clarification in particular to our no Gamergate rule.
We would have simply kept this rule under “don’t wear anything that might offend” given the very touchy subject regarding this controversy, but the team was worried of people wearing “subtle” clothing (such as the green and purple color scheme that has become very popular within the GG community). As such we had to make it it’s own rule.
What follows next was not written by me (John) and instead by Cassie (another member of the DC team). Some may see at as introduction to the “gamergate” controversy but it should hopefully provide further context as to why we don’t allow gamergate clothing or cosplay
